I like the facebook networks better. Its safer and safety is my main concern on the internet.

And you put the information up online in a public forum, so you should not be surprised that people are looking it up. While it may not make a difference about the actual admittance, it may hold some sway when we're looking at nominations to things like an honors or a scholars program, a teaching program, or other additional programs where we expect a minimun level or decorum or personal presentation.

I'm not just talking any ordinary one or I'd just go with Photobucket.com
I like how facebook.com allows you to frame a section of the photo and label it. This makes it so I don't have to take the photo into photoshop and mess it up.
Only issue I have with just going with facebook, is people who aren't members of facebook won't be able to see the "tagged" areas of the photos.

I like how facebook.com allows you to frame a section of the photo and label it. This makes it so I don't have to take the photo into photoshop and mess it up.
Only issue I have with just going with facebook, is people who aren't members of facebook won't be able to see the "tagged" areas of the photos.

If your user account is sending spam, there's two possibilities:
1) A virus has taken over your system and is using your user account
2) Someone stole your username and password and is sending spam from his computer.
Run a virus scan on your system and change your account password. If it persists, delete your account completely and create a new one.
If that doesn't help, you probably have a hidden virus that wasn't detected by the scanner.

First of all, I would suggest that whatever you have to say is something that needs to be said. I would also make sure that it is something that is said in truth and not out of anger or emotion. Those things tend to cloud our judgments.
If it is something that is going to be hard to hear, you might think of how you would want to hear it. Of course, the HB does give people a chance to reply so you could clarify what you are saying if need be.

a computer geek coworker of a friend of mine (they dated) somehow got my friend's (girl) password, hacked the account, posted lies and mean things (like she's a "whore")...anyways, she got facebook to change the linked email and password, but somehow this guy either got the password, or got facebook to change it again...

Kids in like 6th grade (6th graders IM me all the time, they get my sn from other people..), have....fa..fa...faceboookkkkk!!!! I know. I can't believe it. Do colleges really look at your myspaces and facebooks? Do they research your aim conversations too? I just learned in government that they do. Like any normal teenager I curse in conversations and talk about innapropriate things. This got me really nervous. Since when is the patriot act a part of college admissions? Why is drinking such a huge part of the "college experience"?
I'm a sophomore at a four-year university and I can't believe that it is such an important part of people's lives. I don't drink, but I swear it seems like 95% of the people here do. It's easy to feel left out when you don't participate in those kind of things.
I look around at everyone's Facebooks and nearly every other picture has someone with an alcoholic beverage in their hand, or two drunk girls kissing each other while holding cups of beer, etc...
Whatever happened to popcorn and a movie? A fun board game? Whatever happened to good, CLEAN fun? Why does it always have to be about sex, drugs, and drinking?
Can't people have fun without that stuff, at least once in a while?
I don't like going to any of the parties around here, because they're all about beer kegs and revealing clothing and usually end up with fighting or some kind of controversy.

I'm a junior at college, and I completely agree with you! I think it's a horrible waste of time and money and too frequently leads to awkward/hurtful situations. I also think it is ridiculous when people use being drunk as an excuse for otherwise unacceptable behavior. If you can't handle it in an appropriate manner, you shouldn't be drinking!
I think many people do it because it's a way to unwind after working hard all week, and then everybody else does it because it's a way to socialize. I personally think that going to a movie or hanging out with friends (without drinking) is much more fun, and doesn't give you a pounding headache in the morning.
The sad thing is, many of these people are setting themselves up for drinking problems later in life.

When I was in college you could always tell the ones who hadn't had much freedom at home. They were the ones who went overboard on the partying. Some had to go to the emergency room for alcohol poisoning, got arrested for public drunkenness, DWI, and a few died.
I wish I knew the answer. All I can say to these kids is that the alcohol will still be there next year or 10 years from now don't try and drink it all asap. Also to think about the future and who might see these pictures and judge them for their actions. Parents, their own children, future employers, if they go into some kind of visibly public job etc...

Reply:The facebook interface is a lot cleaner/easier to read. Myspace is catching up though, but facebook's stalker feed (aka news feed) is a lot more thorough than Myspace's.
Reply:I believe that Facebook is believed to have a more mature user community. However, that is open to change. The great plus with myspace is that you can use HTML to deck out your page with beautiful designs. It's up to you, what do you want?

Reply:They are very different from each other. I think facebook is better because they have these programs called "applications" and you can have different apps for different things and that is the really good thing about it.

How about asking her what she likes eg favourite singer show etc (Hopefully there geared to her age) and tell her to join their forumn and then she can meet people closer to her age. With my space and face book there are measure you can take to make it safer for that age group and have a age limit of how old the friends have to be and set the profile to private so she chooses the friends or they request and she has to approve of them before they can even see her page.She is so lucky to have a sister like you that cares so much about her but if its possible because I dont know your situation your parents should step in as it their responsibility . Talk to them tell them about your fears Good Luck.

You can actually look at some of the kids and know they aren't 65!! I think it's a smart choice not to let her go on. 10 years old is young. Tell her the my space rules, she is underage. Worse case scenario, she get a myspace that you have to be on her list or a friend/password. She doesn't need to grow up that quick. Good for you!

We used to be friends but then he started getting annoying and i stopped spending so much time with him...then we stopped hanging out/talking to each other, recently he asked me out and i told him i couldnt date cuz i had alot going on in my life...then he asked me to prom and i said i was going out to eat with my friends and he still texts me/facebooks me/ or calls me once a week

Can I sue Facebook for the emotional stress my son is going through due to an embarassing fake profile?
LET ME GET THIS OUT FIRST. MY SON DOES NOT HAVE A FACEBOOK ACCOUNT. I DON'T WANT MONEY UNLESS THAT FORCES FACEBOOK TO DO THE RIGHT THING.
Someone other than my son, was allowed by Facebook to create an ID that basically caused my son to be extremely hurt. They then proceeded to link to friends and people that know him to further. Whether this was a simple prank or not, to put up a sight that indicates that my 13yr old is gay and that seeks to demean him in front of his friends and others that may or may not know him is very damaging to a young teen. This may even have been done by someone that he assumes is his friend..it may not. The school is helping, but I don't want my son to end up like the Meier's daughter.

Right away it puts the other person down indirectly. What these bullies enjoy is making fun of a person and not getting a response. What do you think? As goes for facebook, it will definitely be an interesting case demonstrating how a network can be a negative asset. This is indirect sexual harassment. Ma'am you are correct in wanting to protect your son. It's not fair that he is consistantly being harrassed online. I think you should consult a lawyer to see exactly how to proceed. In most cases consultations are free. Check into it. I have provided some links for you to read up on what your child may be going through.

Should I get a facebook?
All of my friends have facebooks and I'm leaving for college at the end of the summer. Should I get a facebook to keep in touch with my friends better; they are all going across the country for college.
Or is getting a facebook a trap?
I've never had a myspace or anything just because I always try to be a non conformist, so is getting a facebook conforming or is it something that I should just get and shut up?

I think you're doing the right thing by not getting into facebook or myspace. If your friends are close enough then I'm sure you'll keep in touch. If they're not, then who really cares. Reply:Facebook is alright. I, personally don't use it much because it's a bit confusing. If you're going to try and keep in touch with your friends, perhaps get a myspace. It's a bit easier to use and you should be able to understand it fairly quickly

If you like sharing photos with friends, scrapbooking, leaving notes for your friend etc, then it would be a good idea. Elsewise, you won't die if you don't have a facebook.
